FAQ
I know that seeing a health coach is a big decision– I know because I made this same decision years ago when I was at the height of my own Irritable Bowel Syndrome. You want someone that you trust, and want to know that you’ll get results. Additionally, you may have already tried a lot of things to feel better and may be doubtful that anything will actually “work.”
Here are some of the questions you may have about my services and programs:
Q: What Is A Holistic Health Coach?
I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach and trained at the Institute For Integrative Nutrition where I studied both western and eastern approaches to nutrition. I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Before I became a Holistic Health Coach I earned a Master’s Degree in social work from Simmons College and worked in the mental health field for 8 years facilitating group and individual psychotherapy.
So what does this all mean for you? I am a nutrition and digestive wellness expert and a coach all rolled into one, thus you not only have access to my strategies and expertise on healing your belly but I show you step-by-step how to implement the strategies into your lifestyle. I could tell you every mistake and every secret I know to stabilizing your belly, things that have cost me thousands of dollars and many years to learn… the truth is, they won’t do you any good unless you use them! And the only way to learn how to use these secrets the RIGHT way is to have support and accountability from someone who’s been where you are and gotten consistent results. As your coach I provide you with 3 ingredients that are essential for you to reach your goals and finally see results in how your belly feels. Those 3 ingredients are:
1. The Right System
2. The Right Support
3. Consistent Accountability
Ever notice that you sometimes already know WHAT to do to for your health concern, but don’t always DO it? The magic of having a holistic health coach is that I not only give you the tools to get results for your belly, but I also keep you on track by supporting you every step of the way and being your tough love coach when you need it.

Q: I Was Just Diagnosed With Irritable Bowel Syndrome And I’m Totally Overwhelmed. How Should I Get Started?
I recommend several things to start:
- Click here to sign up to get instant access to your free report “Are You Making Your Belly Problems Worse” so that you can get started on discovering which foods may be upsetting your belly and learn the tool I recommend to ALL my new clients.
- Read this article to get a sneak peak at my approach to healing from IBS
- When you are ready I recommend my Tame Your Tummy Trouble Breakthrough Session or my Happy Belly Detox Program which are both ways to get maximum results without committing to a long term program.
Q: I notice you write a lot about Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), but I’ve been diagnosed with another gastrointestinal disorder. Can your programs help me?
Yes, I do write a lot about IBS. That is my specialty, in part because I know it personally so well, since I’ve struggled with it myself. However, my programs will benefit any gastrointestinal disorder. I work with you on identifying your particular belly symptom triggers. I am here to help you optimize your digestion and the strategies I recommend are safe and effective for any diagnosis and complement the care you are getting from your doctor. In your Tame Your Tummy Trouble Breakthrough Session I get to hear more about your particular situation, diagnosis and concerns before you commit to any long term program.
Q: Do You Take Insurance?
I am not able to take insurance at this time.
Q: Do I have to live in the Boston area to do one of your programs?
No! My coaching programs are conducted virtually–held over the phone– and I have had clients from all over the country. If you are in the Boston area however, you’ll see that some of my programs have options to include live (and fun!) retreats, food store tours and more fabulous opportunities to meet up in person.
Q: I’m Concerned About Phone Coaching– What Is It Like?
I can totally understand the worry about not having face to face time, it can definitely seem different at first. But in fact, I have found that phone coaching can give you an even more powerful coaching experience. Here’s why:
- There is no extra travel hassle– no rushing around to appointments or wasting time getting to sessions. One of the reasons that people often fall off track is because being healthy does take time and effort, but it doesn’t have to take up so much time that it interferes with the rest of your life. My programs are meant to reduce your stress not add more
- It can actually be easier to let go, and be open and comfortable talking about your tummy troubles without a set of eyes on you.
- Phone sessions are convenient, save you time, energy and create a safe space to just be yourself.
Q: What happens in your coaching sessions?
The short answer is that it depends on which program you choose. Most coaching sessions will begin with a celebration– yes a celebration (!) of what’s going well since our last session. I will share with you some new content–a step in my Tame Your Tummy Trouble System and we will wrap up with some action steps for you to implement until our next session. There is always time for you to bring your questions and challenges as well. It is a combination of direct guidance (I’ll tell you just what to do to get those symptoms under control), and open support.
